A Happy Start to the New Year?

Posted by Altered Confusion on January 4, 2008

Well I have to say that I’m having a hard time seeing that right now from a work point of view. My boss decided that it was not acceptable that I took last Friday off, and so I have to make up the 8 hours and I will get my day back at the end of February. Doesn’t that sound like I was caught playing in the street and mommy and daddy just took away my favorite toy until I learn my lesson?

So I’m still trying to blast through Mario Galaxy, though its going a bit slower as I’m only at about 50 stars now, but have no fear I’m sure, if I have the energy, that I’ll try to continue putting a huge dent into the game. I’m bound and determined to actually put this game in the completed pile, which I have to say has been quite lonely since dot hack//GU back in September, I think.

I still have to get back on the dot hack band wagon and beat the final game so that I can have closure on that series. Games also out there that I’m trying to put forth some form of effort to beat are the following…
1. Tales of the Abyss ( PS2 )
2. Culdcept ( PS2 )
3. Eternal Eyes ( PS1 )
4. Puzzle Quest ( DS )
5. College Hoops 2k8 ( Win the Big Dance and get the Winthrop job ) ( PS3 )
6. Lord of the Rings Online ( I know you really can’t beat this game though ) ( PC )

As you see I’ve got some games on different consoles, so that makes for a fun experience. Though with Eternal Eyes I just pop that in the PS3 and use remote play to the PSP. I think I’m going to have a problem with Culdcept, I can already feel it. The repetitiveness of the game is starting to get to me and that really is a bug turn off for me. I know what some people are thinking, well if repetitiveness is a pet peeve then how can I play sports games. Well the answer to that my friend is that there is always that small chance of a big upset that fuels the blood and keeps me coming back for more.

A sports game that didn’t fair as well is Madden ‘08, that game is very repetitive and while in superstar mode that stupid point system keeps interrupting the flow of the game, and so it is now on the shelf of games that might be played once in a blue moon.

Believe me when I tell you that there are many many titles on that shelf, and I will not sale them.

Some of the games on there are on there because of an error on my part, that being that I have lost my memory card for my gamecube, and I’m having trouble finding a new one, even though the loss of my saves of the completed game of Tales of Symphonia weighs heavy on my heart.

So I have come to the conclusion that I’m a game addict and a media whore. I have to have the game that everyone else has, but when I get it it’s about a 50/50 shot that I’ll actually play it after the hype period of playing a new game, and yet I don’t like renting games, I like that feel of ownership.

I think to a degree I’m like that with Anime as well but seeing as it isn’t as mainstream as games I’m not sucked in as much. The downside is that I’ll miss deals on DVDs from time to time because I don’t hear about them until it is too late, or just not at all. I should try to get back into the anime world but I need time and money both of which I’m a bit tight on and so I let stuff slip.

I think that is the thing that stresses me out the most, when I have so much on my plate and the games, movies, anime, books, whatever go out of existence that I want and then I’m just left there wondering and it is a killer to me because I feel like I could have missed out on something, and from time to time I hear about what I missed out years later and I feel really crappy, especially if it is something that I had in my hands at one time but decided to go a different way at that moment.

Well the boss is in and I need to get working so this is where we get off, but I’ll write again, I’m sure there is only one reader out there but that’s enough for me, and so I’ll keep this up when I have the chance.

But if there are more people out there drop me an e-mail if there is something I can explain to everyone, or something you’d like to hear my opinion on.
